The hotel offers spacious and clean rooms with a tatami sitting area, providing a comfortable stay. The service is exceptional, especially for families, with staff going above and beyond to assist guests. The location is great for exploring the area, although some transportation options may require additional fees. The dining experience is culturally enriching with traditional Japanese meals, albeit slightly limited in variety. Overall, a valuable stay with some minor drawbacks.

7.0/10

My stay at the hotel was quite pleasant overall. The rooms offered a lovely view of the mountains and were set up nicely, complete with a small table with tea on the tatami matting. The room was spacious enough for our group of 3 adults and 2 kids above the age of 10, though it did need a bit of refreshment. The service was decent, with the staff being polite and helpful, despite seeming surprised when we brought a child along. The location, while scenic, was quite far from the station and up hills, which could be challenging for some. The dining experience was culturally enriching but limited in options, stopping too early in the morning. The facilities were satisfactory, with some room for improvement. Overall, a comfortable stay with some room for enhancement.

The room had a lovely view to the mountains and was set up nicely with a small table with tea on the tatami matting. It was quite big, suitable for us with a group of 3 adults and 2 kids above 10, but needed a refreshment.
Service

The service was friendly, polite, and somewhat surprised when we brought a child along. The staff was pleasant and helpful overall.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location in the Hakone area, down a flight of steps and up on the hill next to a river, offered a great setting with hot springs and spa area that were really enjoyable. However, the distance from the station and the uphill climb could be a challenge.
Dining
6.0
The dining experience, while a bit culturally challenging, offered exclusively Japanese options which, although limited, provided a glimpse into the local cuisine. However, the breakfast service stopped too soon, limiting the experience.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were satisfactory, though an upgrade in dining hours and room amenities could enhance the overall experience.

The hotel is nestled in the mountains with a very traditional Japanese theme. The rooms were nice but slightly outdated, featuring two single beds and a tatami sitting area. The staff, although not English-speaking, are gentle and attentive, providing a shuttle service to nearby destinations. The location is ideal for using the Hakone rail pass but may be a bit out of the way for main attractions. The dining experience is very traditional and may not suit everyone, with a decent buffet selection available. Overall, a great stay with some traditional Japanese charm.

The rooms were spacious, and I even had a massage cushion, but they felt a bit outdated.
Service

The staff were very attentive and nice, offering shuttle services to nearby places, but there was a language barrier.

The hotel's position in the mountains with a traditional Japanese theme is unique, and the hot springs and spa area are fantastic, though slightly remote for major sights.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was very traditional, which might not be to everyone's taste, but the buffet had a decent selection of food.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities were in a traditional Japanese style and well-maintained, but limited options were a minor downside.

I had a great time at the hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, and traditional Japanese style, perfect for my group of friends. The value for money with dinner and breakfast included was fantastic. However, the language barrier with the staff made it challenging, and the location, though scenic, was a bit out of the way.

Rooms
9.0
The rooms were super big and spacious, ideal for my group of friends. They were clean and had plenty of bedding, and the tea making facilities were a nice touch.
Service
6.0
The service was not very helpful due to the language barrier, which made it hard to understand instructions. However, the shuttle service to nearby locations was convenient.
Location

The hotel is situated at the top of a winding road, offering a beautiful location. However, it is a bit out of the way for accessing all the local sights.
Dining

The dining was a strictly local Japanese experience, which was simple but a great way to start the day. The meals were filling and exceeded our expectations.
Facilities

The hotel provided vending machines and free massage chairs, and the traditional Japanese experience added a unique touch to the stay.

The hotel offered spacious Japanese rooms with traditional futon bedding, ideal for a group of friends. However, the lingering smell of cigarette smoke was a drawback during my stay.

Rooms

The rooms were super big and spacious, perfect for my group of 5 friends to experience traditional Japanese style.
Service
7.0
The staff, although having limited language skills, was friendly and courteous, offering shuttle services to the nearby Okado hotel for town transport.
Location
6.0
The location was a bit out of the way for the main sights of the area. Paying extra for the Ryokan shuttle improved accessibility, but city tax not included in the room price was inconvenient.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience provided exclusively Japanese options, which were culturally challenging but a unique experience to try. The limited breakfast choices might not suit everyone's taste buds.
Facilities
5.0
The dining options were very modest, offering mainly fish, tofu, salad, rice, and soup with limited drink choices.

Upon entering, I found the hotel to be quite spacious and airy, especially compared to other places we stayed at during our trip. The staff members were friendly and nice, but we were unsure about using facilities at the sister hotel nearby, which limited our dinner options. However, they did come in to make our futons for us, which was a nice touch.

Rooms

The room was large and airy, providing a spacious feel that I appreciated.

The hotel's location on top of a winding road at the end of bus line A offered an amazing view, but it was a bit far from the nearest bus stop.
Dining

The buffet-style dining was a good value and tasty, but mostly Japanese which wasn't ideal for the children.
